Being the “spare human” isn’t the most exciting job in the world, but someone’s gotta do it. Pets naturally choose the one they gravitate toward the most, and there’s little we can do to change that except love them, anyway. If that pet happens to be a particularly moody Cockatoo, spare human duties may include deciphering moody rants and evil laughs, with a sweet “I love you” to follow.
Charlie is one Cockatoo who loves putting Mom through this kind of emotional whiplash because she, as the spare human, is with him throughout the day while Dad (his favorite!) works. In Charlie’s latest convo, he’s the epitome of mixed signals — and not one bit sorry!
Every time a new @charliejuniorcockatoo post comes out, part of me braces for whatever the funny Cockatoo is about to put Mom through! He loves her, but his feelings for her aren’t anything compared to the bond he has with Dad, and this is just another example!
The “hello, love you” followed by a jump scare and cute little stomps are the definition of “mixed signals!” Mom’s always a good sport about it all, but I’m convinced Charlie has taken lengthy notes on ways to get under her skin while Dad’s gone!

“Mama, you best retire to downstairs and leave the baby with his father,” one person joked. “Not the baiting evil ‘I love youuuu.’ Like saying ‘come and learn your lesson… again,'” another added.
Another analyzed his methods writing, “Mixed signals as in I think he’s either taunting you, daring you, or trying to trick you,” and yes to all three!
It’s a whole other story when Dad’s home. Charlie and Dad are the duo of the century — the iconic couple you didn’t know you needed. Their favorite activity is listening to music, so Charlie can show off his dramatic dance moves (he’s obsessed with Usher and Lady Gaga)!
Mom may have the role as spare human watching this “toddler” while Dad gets the sweeter side of Charlie after work, but that’s OK. Like many Cockatoos, Charlie is just doing his thing, and the internet thanks him for it!
