A fitness studio is celebrating after clinching a prestigious heavyweight title, proving it really is the best in the business when it comes to pumping iron.

Anatomy Gyms in Exeter has been named National Newcomer of the Year at the National Fitness Awards, officially recognising the studio as the best new fitness business in the UK.

The site is the first in its area to fully adopt a small group personal training model, which combines the personal attention of one-to-one coaching with the energy and accountability of group training.

Every session is coach-led, focusing on expert programming and individual progression.

Director Lennox Suckley said: “Anatomy represents everything I believe great coaching should be. Today, we have a team of exceptional trainers delivering world-class, fully coach-led sessions every single day.

“Every detail of the gym exists to raise standards and give people a place where they can genuinely progress.

“This award is a reflection of where we are now – a business built on quality, consistency, and the belief that people deserve to train better.”

The award recognised the business for its growth, commitment to standards, and community-first approach.

Long-standing member Sam, 57, said: “After two hip replacements and years of declining health, I honestly didn’t expect to feel this strong again.

“The coaching, patience and support at Anatomy have completely changed my life. I’ve gained strength, confidence, and the belief that I can still achieve things physically.

“It’s not just a gym – it’s a place where people genuinely care about your progress and wellbeing.”

The team stated that the award was a victory for the members and the wider community as much as the business itself.

“This award shows what’s possible when coaching comes first,” Lennox said.

“Smaller, coach-led gyms really can set the standard.”
