Sarah, with Broadstairs Library support, is hosting a menopause mini series
A fitness coach from Broadstairs is holding a series of events to support women going through menopause.
Sarah Rodriguez, 48, has been a personal trainer for some 20 years and has been working with increasing numbers of women who were struggling with this stage in their life.
The mum-of-two qualified as a Menopause Practitioner for Lifestyle Solutions in 2023.

She said: “Menopause has a habit of arriving with changes you didn’t order and explanations that don’t always come with them. One day you’re full of energy… the next you forget why you walked into the kitchen.
“Mood swings, brain fog, sleep changes – it can all feel like your body is running its own little reality show.
“But knowing what’s going on inside your body can make a world of difference, and small, practical tweaks really do help you feel more in control. Hormones are reshaping how your body works – from metabolism and muscle strength to mood and resilience. “Paying attention to tiny, achievable daily habits can help you feel more like yourself again, without adding overwhelm.”

Sarah’s three practical, do-able resets to try:
Micro-movement breaks: Take 2-3 minutes to stretch, roll your shoulders, or walk around. Even small bursts of movement boost energy, circulation, and focus.Hot lemon first thing: Hydration with a bonus! Supports liver function and digestion, helping you start the day feeling lighter and more energised.Mini breathwork reset: One minute of slow, deep breaths – a mini calm button to reduce tension and bring focus back to your mind.
She added: “For women wanting to go further, our upcoming workshops at Broadstairs Library give practical, hands-on guidance to navigate menopause with confidence and support – spaces are limited, so booking is essential.
“There’s also the option of a one-to-one, 45-minute consultation at the library’s Menopause Wellness Clinic, running alongside the workshops.”

What is menopause?
Menopause is when your periods stop due to lower hormone levels. It usually affects women between the ages of 45 and 55, but it can happen earlier.
Menopause can happen naturally, or for reasons such as surgery to remove the ovaries (oophorectomy) or the uterus (hysterectomy), cancer treatments like chemotherapy, or a genetic reason. Sometimes the reason is unknown.
Perimenopause is when you have symptoms of menopause but your periods have not stopped. Perimenopause ends and you reach menopause when you have not had a period for 12 months.
Menopause and perimenopause can cause symptoms like anxiety, mood swings, brain fog, hot flushes and irregular periods. These symptoms can start years before your periods stop and carry on afterwards.
