If you take a daily greens supplement, check the label. Total Nutrition Inc. of Deer Park, N.Y., is recalling some of its products because of possible salmonella exposure, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The following products are included in the recall:
TNVitamins 100% Organic Moringa Capsules 1,200 mg
Product number: AB9917
Lot number: 2800
Expiration date: 2/2028
TNVitamins 100% Organic Moringa Powder
Product number: AB9904
Lot number: 2782
Expiration date: 5/2028
The lot numbers are located on the bottom of the bottle as well as near the barcode on the label. The capsules are packaged in a white HDPE supplement bottle with a smooth white cap; the bottle contains 90 clear capsules filled with green organic moringa powder.
The powder product is packaged in a white HDPE jar with a smooth white cap and contains 96 grams of green organic moringa powder.
The recalled products were distributed nationally through online retailers including Amazon, Walmart, TikTok Shop, and Target, as well as the company’s website.
According to the FDA, this recall is not part of an ongoing investigation of a multistate outbreak of Salmonella Typhimurium and Salmonella Newport infections linked to moringa powder. The agency collected and analyzed samples from an ingredient supplier of Total Nutrition Inc. Two ingredient samples tested positive for salmonella but did not match the outbreak strain.
No illnesses have been reported in relation to the TNVitamins products. According to the FDA, symptoms of a salmonella infection, such as diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps, typically occur within 12 to 72 hours after consuming food contaminated with salmonella, and they usually last four to seven days. Children under five, older individuals, and those with weakened immune systems are more likely to get severe infections. Contact your healthcare provider if you think you may have developed a salmonella infection after consuming the recalled dietary supplements.
If you have purchased the affected supplements, dispose of them immediately. To receive a refund, submit your information using the online form. You will need your order number and a photo of the lot number to complete the request. For questions, contact the company at customerservice@tnvitamins.com.
