Coronation Street spoilers follow from Monday’s episode (11 August), which is available to watch now on ITVX and YouTube but hasn’t yet aired on ITV1.

Coronation Street has appeared to close the door on any romantic future for Aadi Alahan and Amy Barlow.

With Aadi due to leave Weatherfield in the next few weeks, show bosses are busy tying up loose ends ahead of his departure.

Fans know that Corrie has been playing a “will they / won’t they?” scenario with Aadi and Amy for nearly two years, but with Aadi soon to leave, it’s time for some closure.

Monday’s episode sees Amy decide to stand by Aadi, despite the backlash he’s facing for Lauren Bolton’s accidental spiking during the recent summer party.

While Aadi’s dad Dev is determined to send him off to India for a new job – hoping he’ll stand on his own two feet and make something of himself – this sparks opposition from Amy, Asha and Mary, who all want him to stick around.

Amy assures Aadi that she knows he’d never deliberately hurt anybody – and the two friends end up sleeping together at the Barlow house.

Just when it looks like an exciting new chapter is opening for the young couple, though, vengeful Lauren stands in the way…

Aadi gets arrested after Lauren reports him for what happened at the party. Amy can’t believe her eyes as Aadi is hauled down to the police station by Jess Heywood.

Once Aadi returns home, having been released without charge, he confronts Lauren for trying to ruin his life.

Amy is uneasy as Lauren points out various red flags in Aadi’s behaviour, claiming that he’s not the nice guy he makes himself out to be. However, it’s a thoughtless comment from Aadi himself that proves to be the tipping point for Amy.

“Lauren, I’m sorry things turned bad between us,” Aadi says. “There’s no need to ruin my life. You’re just coming across as needy now, you know?”

Clearly unimpressed, Amy tells Aadi: “Maybe you were right earlier. Maybe you should just move to India.”

Fleeing into No.1, Amy turns to her mum Tracy for comfort and says: “It’s Aadi – I thought I could trust him, but he’s not who I thought he was…”

Adam Hussain, who plays Aadi, announced in April that he’d be leaving Coronation Street after five years playing the character.

Adam told fans: “I guess the secret’s out now! As some of you may have heard, I will be leaving Coronation Street for new pastures.

“Over the five years I’ve spent there, I have learned so much about the world and the industry and now feel I am ready to spread my wings a little.”

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
