Kansas City artist uses watercolor books to showcase landmarks and inspire creativity

Tiffany Ascensio, a lifelong Kansas City artist, has created watercolor books to inspire creativity and help people explore their connection to the city.

“I added about two drops of water to each color of the paint dots,” Ascensio said.

Known for her skill with watercolors, Ascensio wanted to combine her passion for art with her love for Kansas City.

“I wanted to do something that no one else has done before, and one thing that kept coming up was Kansas City,” Ascensio said.

The project aims to teach people how to paint with watercolors while discovering more about their hometown.

“Honestly, the hardest part was narrowing it down to 12,” Ascensio said.

The books feature a Kansas City landmark on one side and an empty sketch on the other, allowing people to paint the scenes in their own way.

“I wanted to show everybody that you can be creative and that art is a very wonderful moving meditation and something that is really attainable to everyone,” Ascensio said.

She added, “It allows you to put yourself into it and really make it your own and kind of develop at your own way.”
