A young, coeliac baker is one step closer to reaching her dream as she is set to open a dedicated gluten-free bakery stall in the Plymouth Market this weekend.
Cassie, who owns Sugar Belle, currently bakes out of her home kitchen but is about to start an exciting new adventure in the city, selling her gluten-free treats at her own stall.
The 23-year-old said it has been her dream “for so long” to open a bakery, adding that there is a bit of a gap in the market for dedicated, 100 per cent gluten-free bakeries in the city.
Speaking to PlymouthLive, Cassie said she and her family are coeliac and she has been baking since her childhood.
“I was the designated gluten-free birthday cake baker for everyone”, she told PlymouthLive. “I’ve always baked and have been selling some items at Just Dunne in Stoke, but it’s been a dream to have my own bakery.
“I started selling around April or May this year, and a space in the Market just happened to pop up. I want somewhere where people can come and sit down. I just want it to be pink and gluten-free.”
Opening up a bakery has not only been a dream for Cassie, but a passion of hers throughout her adult life. While at university in Cardiff, Cassie worked in a vegan and gluten-free patisserie with Bake Off winner, Thibault Courtoisier.
WalesOnline reports Cardiff ‘s Laurian and Thibault from Cocorico Patisserie were crowned the winner of Channel 4’s Bake Off: The Professionals, with the duo beating out bakers from The Ivy and Park Plaza Hotels.

Sugar Belle will be open for it’s first day in the Plymouth Market on Saturday, October 3. Cassie said she will be open from 9.30am until 4.30pm, or until bakery items are gone.
Everything made by Cassie is 100 per cent guaranteed gluten-free and baked in a dedicated gluten-free kitchen, so there is no risk whatsoever of any cross contamination.
Sugar Belle also offers dairy free baked goods, and is still taking pre-orders ahead of the opening.
On the opening day, Cassie will have a range of products on sale from pizza rolls, cinnamon buns -including dairy free options – cupcakes, muffins, and mini loaves.
