With the recent issues at the Vancouver Aquatic Centre, you may be wondering what sort of options are out there for indoor swimming and fitness in downtown Vancouver.
Fortunately, there are other options available — meaning that you’ll never have to be without physical activity during the season you need it most.
Aquafit (YWCA Health + Fitness)
The YWCA Health + Fitness Centre at 535 Hornby St. is stepping up to fill the gap. A 25-metre UV-purified pool with shared swim lanes and aquafit classes will get you back in the water, while the hot tub, steam room, and infrared sauna are ideal ways to wind down after a workout (or even a long day).
And the good times aren’t just limited to activities that involve a swimsuit. There are also weight and cardio rooms, a pickleball court, and a wide range of group fitness classes, from spin to karate and everything in between.
YWCA is open to all genders, ages 15 and up, although there’s a designated women’s only area available as well.
Pickleball (YWCA Health + Fitness)
You can access all of this and more with a monthly membership fee of $71. To help Vancouverites stay active and healthy, YWCA is offering a free drop-in visit from now through Dec. 19, so that you can try the pool, gym, classes, and wellness amenities commitment-free.
Plus, if you become a member during your visit, they’ll waive the $50 joiner fee. It’s definitely the best opportunity to get a head start on your New Year’s resolutions.
Transforming healthy communities

Yoga Flow (YWCA Health + Fitness)
YWCA Health + Fitness Centre is more than just a gym — it’s a social enterprise. Every membership and drop-in fee contributes to YWCA housing, employment and training, youth services, and more — helping build stronger communities. After all, everyone deserves a chance to thrive.
Get back into the swing of things — and back in the pool — by checking out the YWCA Health + Fitness Centre for free at 535 Hornby St. with the drop-in code SWIMYWCA.
