Ah, the keto diet. Some love it, some hate it, some love to hate it, but ultimately, it exists. As such, there are many foods out there manufactured to fit within the keto parameters, including, and I know this might surprise you based on the title and concept of this article, keto coffee creamers.
What is keto?
Abiding by the “keto diet” means that you eat only high-fat, low-carbohydrate foods to reach “ketosis.” Ketosis is where the body uses fat for fuel, instead of sugar/carbs. So, keto coffee creamers can be as high in fat as they want, but must be very low in or devoid of sugar altogether.
What did we look for in the best keto coffee creamer?
No weird aftertaste. A lot of keto coffee creamers are made with artificial sweeteners, and you know what that means: that strange, saccharine aftertaste that lingers on your palate. The best keto coffee creamer is either unsweetened (good ones exist!) or manages to minimize that faux sugar flavor.
Makes coffee less bitter and more creamy. A lot of coffee creamers—not just the keto kinds—are made with a variety of oils rather than actual cream. Still, the best keto coffee creamer has a creamy rather than a fatty finish. And the whole point is to temper the flavor of black coffee, right? It should do that.
We tried everything from coconut-based keto coffee creamer to almond-based keto coffee creamer and even grass-fed butter-based keto coffee creamer, and believe us, we had thoughts. These are the keto creamers we can confidently say are the cream of the crop.

Best Powdered
Rapid Fire Keto Creamer
This is the only powder keto coffee creamer that made it onto the final list. Why? Because it is pretty good. It reminded me a lot of plain powdered Coffee-mate and presented a pretty good blank slate. It had no sugar or sweetness, was slightly salty, and made the bitterness of the coffee less prominent. Is it the creamiest keto coffee creamer we tasted? No! But it does taste like coffee creamer, and we liked that a lot about it. Plus, it has powdered grass-fed butter in it, and we assume that’s a plus for people who are into the Bulletproof Coffee trend.

Best Coconut Forward
Laird Sweet & Creamy Coconut Superfood Creamer
This is the sweetest keto creamer we tried. It does have real sugar in it—coconut sugar, to be exact—but not a huge amount of it (only 3 grams), so we still included it on this list. The consistency is thick and creamy and reminded us of coconut milk if it were the consistency of heavy cream and a lot sweeter. Still, while it effectively diluted and sweetened my coffee, it didn’t quite result in rich, creamy coffee. A nice thing if you’re into “functional” mushrooms and nootropics, Laird also has lion’s mane and reishi mushrooms in it, which may have some additional health benefits (jury’s still out on that one, so take this how you will).

Best Caramel Flavored
Chobani Zero Sugar Salted Caramel Coffee Creamer
Chobani is the only creamer that made our list that’s sweetened with stevia, but if you aren’t super sensitive to alternative sweeteners (because, you know, you’re on what’s basically a sugar free diet), you won’t mind this at all. This flavor had a bit more of an aftertaste than the other Chobani offering further down the list, but it’s tolerable because teh salted caramel flavor is so lovely. If you like caramel coffee drinks but want to keep it keto and avoid the carbs, then this is the best keto coffee creamer for you. Plus, it uses real dairy!

Best Unsweetened Keto Coffee Creamer
Nutpods Coffee Cake Almond + Coconut Creamer
I think the name Nutpods is hilarious and I can’t quite put a finger on why. Maybe it’s because this creamer has nuts in it, but I am not sure where the “pods” come in? Or maybe it’s because Nutpods also seems like another name for the “cliques” at the Mean Girls high school? Or maybe it’s just a fun thing to say, and I’m going to test out using it on my brother this holiday season (i.e., “Shut up, ya nutpod!”… don’t worry, he’s chill and will take it well). Oh, you wanted to know what this tastes like? Well, if you must know, this keto coffee creamer is not sweetened, but to us, the coffee cake flavor read more like cereal milk, specifically of the Cinnamon Toast Crunch variety. Plus, since it’s unsweetened, there’s no weird faux sugar aftertaste. It’s the best keto coffee creamer if you want the idea of sweetness in your coffee without actual sweeteners.

Best Vanilla Flavored
Laird Vanilla Coconut Superfood Creamer
Of Laird’s superfood creamers, we liked this one the best. It still has that thick-but-not-really-creamy coconut thing going for it that the other Laird flavor on this list had, but the vanilla flavor added a welcome bit of perceived creaminess. This one also has a hint of that coconut flavor to it, but ultimately, this will sweeten, dilute, and tinge your coffee with vanilla, and we see no problem there.

Best Overall
Chobani Zero Sugar Sweet Cream Coffee Creamer
Chobani Sweet Cream is one of our favorite coffee creamers, and it finally comes in a zero sugar version. It tastes like melted vanilla ice cream (and then melted coffee ice cream once we tried it with coffee). We know it wasn’t technically vanilla flavored, but trust us, the vibe of this creamer is somewhere between vanilla and the marsh-ed mallow. It made the coffee thicker, sweeter, less bitter, creamier, and most importantly, it did all of this with minimal stevia aftertaste. If you are keeping keto and looking for a low-carb (only 1g per serving!) coffee creamer option that does it all, we recommend you give this bad boy a try.
