Chirk Leisure Centre has been crowned the ‘Leisure Centre of the Year’ at the UK Active Awards 2025.

The facility, operated by Freedom Leisure on behalf of Wrexham Council, was recognised at the prestigious awards for its exceptional standards, community impact and commitment to innovation in health and fitness.






The UK Active Awards ceremony, held in Birmingham, brought together leading organisations from across the sector to celebrate the people and initiatives driving progress in health, fitness and community wellbeing.

Chirk Leisure Centre was selected following a competitive judging process that included a detailed application and multiple mystery visits.


Ivan Horsfall Turner, Chief Executive Officer of Freedom Leisure, said: “We are incredibly proud and honoured to be recognised at the UK Active Awards 2025.
