Anytime Fitness Balhannah has been named Club of the Year by Anytime Fitness. The national award was announced at the BELONG conference at The Star Gold Coast. The win highlights the growth of the regional fitness sector.
The recognition comes as the Australian fitness industry moves toward a projected value of $3.1 billion by 2026. Anytime Fitness is set to account for almost a quarter of the sector. Regional areas continue to face challenges around physical inactivity. Data shows that 45% of adults in outer regional and remote areas do not meet recommended physical activity guidelines.
Anytime Fitness Balhannah had the highest member referral rate in South Australia for the year. It also ranks sixth nationally for the chain. As the town’s one and only gym, it has become the regular training base for up to 80% of Balhannah’s population.
The club underwent a major refresh in August 2024. It is now one of the most modern facilities in the network. Membership has grown by more than 300 since the upgrade.
“This award isn’t just about our club, it’s about what’s possible when you invest in people, not just programs,” said Daniel Mellor, Anytime Fitness Balhannah Franchisee. “I’m incredibly proud of the hard work our team has put in to achieve this recognition. Their passion, consistency, and care for our members is what makes this place special.”
Anytime Fitness Managing Director Simon Thompson said “Anytime Fitness Balhannah represents everything we believe in – community, connection, and creating spaces where people feel they belong. We’re incredibly proud of Daniel and the Balhannah team, their success shows that when you lead with heart, geography doesn’t limit impact.”
