Hrithik Roshan’s Post On Eye Muscles Training
Hrithik Roshan recently shared a post on social media. He mentioned how his eye power has been reduced by nearly half with a special kind of training. “At 42, my ever-so-proper eye doctor laughed and lovingly said to me: ‘Haha, no, I am sorry, Hrithik, you can’t reverse your number. The eye is not a muscle you can train it as you do in the gym!” Hrithik wrote in his post’s caption.

My search led me to Washington, DC, where I spent 5 days training the ‘muscles’ of the eyes for four hours a day – and surprise, surprise – my number went down by half!! Yes, you heard that right.” Hrithik even thanked the doctor and clinic in his post, and tagged them. The actor shared glimpses from his eye training sessions as well.

What Is Eye Muscle Training?
First let us tell you what training your eye muscle is. “Eye muscle training, also known as vision therapy, is often recommended for conditions like lazy eye (amblyopia), convergence insufficiency, or mild focusing problems, particularly in children. Exercises such as shifting focus from a near object to a far object, following a moving object with the eyes, or practicing controlled eye movements can improve the flexibility and teamwork of the eye muscles,” explains Dr Shambhavi GK.

She continues, “The eyes have small muscles that help them move in different directions and focus on objects at different distances. These muscles control how both eyes work together to give clear vision. When these muscles are weak or not well coordinated, a person may experience eye strain, headaches, blurred vision, or difficulty focusing, especially after long hours of screen use. In such cases, simple eye exercises can help reduce discomfort and improve coordination between the eyes.”
Can Training Eye Muscles Improve Your Vision?
So can eyesight really improve when we train our eye muscles? We ask our expert. Here’s what she says.
She adds, “Training eye muscles can help with some eye problems, but it cannot fully improve your eyesight if you have a refractive error like minus power, plus power, or cylinder. These exercises may also help people who experience double vision due to poor eye alignment. However, these benefits are mainly related to how the eyes work together and not to the actual sharpness of vision.”

Dr Shambhavi GK further explains that if you have myopia (short sight), hyperopia (long sight), or astigmatism, these problems are caused by the shape of the eyeball or cornea and not because the eye muscles are weak. “In such cases, eye exercises cannot remove your need for glasses or contact lenses. Treatment like spectacles, contact lenses, or laser surgery may be required based on an eye doctor’s advice,” concludes the expert.
