It is believed that up to one in 100 people in the UK are coeliac, but only 36% are diagnosed.
I decided to head down to The Gluten Free World in Runcorn, owned and run by Helen and Angelo Sarleti, to try out some coeliac-friendly goodies for myself.

The shop was busy when I visited on a Wednesday morning, and I immediately felt welcome.
All of the staff were incredibly friendly, kind, and chatty – customer service makes all the difference, and I could tell everyone working there was truly passionate about the business.
Everything on offer looked fantastic, and I opted for a coffee cake and a latte.

I don’t follow a gluten-free diet myself, so I didn’t really know what to expect, but the cake was absolutely delicious.
Packed full of flavour, the sponge was moist, and the buttercream icing was creamy and rich.
If I hadn’t known, I would have had no idea the cake didn’t contain any gluten.

In total, my hot drink and sweet treat cost £5.40, which I thought was a good price for the quality on offer.
