Fifteen years ago, concentrated pre-workouts were reshaping sports nutrition, led by the legendary and DMAA-powered Jack3d from USP Labs. There were other competitors that followed Jack3d and also relied on the potent stimulant, including Nutrex’s Hemo Rage, MuscleTech’s NeuroCore, and BPI’s 1MR. BSN, already one of the bigger names in the industry and category through NO Xplode, joined that movement in October of 2011 with a separate energy and performance formula called Hyper FX.
Hyper FX was introduced as a concentrated pre-workout, separate from BSN’s already well-known NO Xplode, although unlike some of the other compact supplements at the time, it did not contain the energy and focus-powering DMAA. The product was powered by a 9.6g proprietary blend featuring high-quality CarnoSyn beta-alanine, betaine, taurine, Peak ATP, d-aspartic acid, Capsimax, BioPerine, choline, Advantra Z, huperzine A, vincamine, and, of course, the classic caffeine for a reliable hit of energy.
BSN launched Hyper FX in Blue Raz and Fruit Punch flavors and priced it below Jack3d, as well as promised a wider variety of benefits, including energy, focus, endurance, power, fat-burning, and testosterone support. The supplement actually went on to get a sequel a few years later in Hyper FX 2.0 and was eventually joined by another stimulant-based, Hyper-named innovation in the fat burner Hyper Shred.
