Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale’s Charity Dingle kicks her husband Mackenzie Boyd out next week, after a blazing argument takes place on the anniversary of the day that they lost their baby. Is this the final straw for the broken couple?

Having drowned his sorrows at The Woolpack, drunk Mackenzie reminds Charity that she’s forgotten all about the fact that it’s three years to the day that they lost their unborn child.

It’s not the only thing that he wants to get off his chest, though, as the mechanic also confesses that he’s not actually on board with Charity’s surrogacy decision like he previously made out…

“It all comes tumbling out,” Lawrence Robb, who plays Mack, tells us.

“Charity goes into fight or flight and although she probably can hear Mack’s reasoning, she immediately puts her guard up and starts firing back, which is understandable. But ultimately, Mack said he was okay with the surrogacy, when he’s really not…”

Before the row, Mackenzie is eager to spend some quality time with his wife, but Charity appears too distracted to satisfy his wishes. Instead, Mack heads to the pub hoping to take his mind off things, but Ross Barton’s teasing at the bar leaves him even more focused on his pain and anguish.

“Mack is devastated that Charity hasn’t remembered,” explains Lawrence. “He’s sad that she hasn’t recognised that this is an important time for them as a couple.

“His depth of feeling probably wouldn’t have had the same vigour last year, as the anniversary didn’t have the same significance as it does now, simply because of what Charity has decided to go through. He’s very cut up.”

Later in the week, Mack is distraught that Charity still hasn’t made contact after the argument that led to him being chucked out. On the other hand, Charity is comforted by Chas as the landlady laments how she left things with her husband.

“It’s not looking good for Mack and Charity,” Lawrence reveals. “Whilst Mackenzie has got the argument with Charity happening, he’s got a pretty critical moment with John on his plate as well. Combine those and it does not spell good things…”

With Charity and Mack’s marriage at a heartbreaking low, can they somehow salvage what love they have left? Or is their relationship damaged beyond repair?
