For those attending Centre Court at Wimbledon, sartorial competition is fierce. From the Princess of Wales in custom Emilia Wickstead to Sienna Miller in McQueen, the world’s most famous faces tend to bring their A-game to the tennis tournament. There were a host of very well-dressed women this year, however, who all had one thing in common: they all chose their outfits from the same British label.

Me+Em, founded by Clare Hornby in 2009, is no stranger to a celebrity fan. Last summer, a slew of well-known women were photographed in the brand, including Daisy Edgar-Jones and Leighton Meester, before autumn brought endorsements from Pamela Anderson – in a black knitted co-ord – and Julia Roberts, who wore the British label’s jeans.

In SW19, the parade of Me+Em outfits was plentiful. There was Michelle Dockery in the Capri Trouser and Icon Oversized Blazer, as well as Philippa Dunne (of Motherland and Amandaland fame) in the same jacket but in black, which she wore with the Slit Pleated Maxi Skirt. There were, as you might expect given the setting, many white dresses, from Isla Fisher in the Fit + Flare Maxi dress, to a trio of Bridgerton actresses:Katie Leung wore the Midi Shirt Dress, Adjoa Andoh chose a sleeveless version of the former in a textured tweed and Golda Rosheuvel opted for the Mixed Media Maxi Dress.

In fact, Me+Em told me that Wimbledon was responsible for a nearly 50 per cent increase in searches for white dresses on its website, and the dresses category more generally is a top performer at the moment. “Styles that feature our ‘intelligent design’ details such as removable belts, adjustable necklines and 2-in-1 styles with removable linings all feature within current bestsellers across our entire summer dress collection,” said a spokesperson.
