The BBC’s new drama Mix Tape has topped the streaming chart on iPlayer after its debut this week.

The show follows a former couple who met in the 1980s and bonded over a love of music (with a mixtape involved, of course) but go their separate ways.

Cut to the present day, and the two are living in different continents, but reconnect online and relight their spark through talking about music. However, they’ve built two very different lives, and each have new partners. Could they really give it all up to get back together?

The show premiered on BBC Two on Tuesday this week, with all episodes available dropping on iPlayer on the same day, and at the time of writing, Mix Tape is number 1 on the ‘Most Popular Today’ section.

The new documentary series Human is in second place, with EastEnders in third place, and the new series of The Great British Sewing Bee in fourth.

On IMDB, Mix Tape has an average score of 7.7 from 666 user ratings.

“I have had to binge watch it because I couldn’t stop watching it,” wrote one fan, while another said that they were “addicted” to it.

A third fan praised all the main cast, and singled out Florence Hunt for her “convincing” performance, while a fourth enjoyed the show but bemoaned “the lack of continuity with accents”.
