Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks has confirmed more turmoil for Mercedes McQueen following concerning scenes with Ste Hay. The two characters have been dealing with respective issues in their lives at the moment, with Mercedes wrestling with guilt over shooting Tony Hutchinson, and for losing the baby she was carrying.

Ste, meanwhile, has been at the centre of an abuse storyline at the hands of son Lucas, as well as developing feelings for Lucas’s ex Dillon Ray, and has been spiralling since losing custody of grandson James after falsely confessing to abusing Lucas.

The latest episode saw the two characters converge, as Mercedes dealt with Warren Fox’s determination to prove that Goldie was sending anonymous texts to her.

Having chastised Warren for calling Goldie a “twisted little cow” after she handed Mercedes an envelope delivered to the house with the words ‘KILLER MCQUEEN’, she was offered anti-anxiety pills by Gemma, and later crossed paths with Ste at The Loft.

There, they knocked back pills and booze together, setting them on a dangerous path.

In new scenes airing next week, Mercedes and Ste stumble out of Casa McQueen, while a smug Gemma looks on. Mercedes is determined to keep the party going at Ste’s place.

However, John Paul is alarmed that Mercedes hasn’t returned home, though Sienna relays to him and Goldie that she saw her getting high with Ste.

The pair are later tracked down by John Paul and Goldie, though when they mention Tony, Mercedes starts to spiral and runs away. Yet the guilt becomes overwhelming and she decides to see Tony, and she crosses paths with Diane, who tells her she looks worse for wear.

Meanwhile, Tony becomes worried when he learns that he is able to be discharged soon with a care package.

Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
