Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks has made a big change in the disturbing storyline involving Ant Hutchinson, with romance possibly being in the air. Given his concerning attitudes towards women, will his past come back to bite him?

Ant has become increasingly involved with Prince McQueen in recent weeks, who had been posting harmful content full of misogynistic attitudes. Ant began to agree with these views, though Prince did cease the videos eventually.

This has caused much strife within the Hutchinson household, especially given Tony’s recent brush with mortality. Fearing that her son could go down the rabbit hole even further, Diane confiscated Ant’s phone.

In scenes set to air on Monday and Tuesday (15/16 December), Diane will give Ant his phone back, albeit with trepidation. He’s quick to start consuming the harmful videos again, and skips school.

Diane also keeps an eye on Tony, and later leaves Mercedes to stay with him. After hearing that Ant has been watching the videos again, in addition to his truancy from school, Diane confiscates Ant’s phone again.

Exhausted from having to balance the various issues within the family, Diane is surprised when Prince offers to have a word with Ant regarding his views. Wanting a short break from worrying, she agrees to his offer.

Prince invites Ant to participate in a gym session with him, and it looks to be a wise decision as Trina, a friend of Dee Dee, pays close attention to Ant. Could love be in the air for the troubled teen?

While Ant could have a romantic interest, Warren Fox will be involved in a love triangle with Mercedes and Gemma, with matters being complicated by the fact that both Gemma and Diane know that Mercedes shot Tony.

Warren assures Mercedes that he only has eyes for her, with our source explaining: “Mercedes is really struggling, and Warren is the only person that she feels able to open up to, so she can’t lose him.”

Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
