Emmerdale aired an unexpected change in Ruby Miligan and Manpreet Sharma’s feud storyline.
The two women were forced to spend a night in custody after their coming to blows at Caleb’s Depot as their war reached a new high.
However, the forced time together resulted in an ending that no one could have predicted.
At the police station, Manpreet and Ruby were both discharged, but a traffic incident meant that they both had to wait around for their transportation home.
The two continued to taunt each other, with Ruby calling a taxi on Manpreet’s behalf telling the driver to look out for “Hagrid’s older sister”.

Hitting back, Manpreet brought up the subject of Ruby’s dad Anthony Fox again and teased Ruby about her daddy issues and problems with alcohol.
As Manpreet continued to talk about Anthony, Ruby repeatedly told Manpreet to shut up before hitting her with the hard truth: “Maybe it’s because he raped me.”
Manpreet is left devastated and Ruby had a delayed reaction to her confession, shocked that she spilled the secret.

Manpreet apologised to Ruby and tried to console Ruby: “What that man did to you, your strength, I think you’re amazing.”
As a GP, Manpreet admitted she’d dealt with too many cases of abuse and had experience helping survivors.
An emotional Ruby continued to open up to Manpreet, admitting that since the abuse she’d struggled to get close to people because of the trauma and found it hard to make friends.

Manpreet tried to persuade Ruby to get therapy and even offered to help Ruby, before making a vulnerable confession herself: “What you said about friends, I hear you. Believe me I hear you.”
Ruby then pulled Manpreet in for a hug and the two shared a moment. The police officer then informed Ruby that Caleb was outside and ready to pick her up.
In wake of the heart-to-heart, Ruby immediately called the taxi company and cancelled the cab, telling them that her “friend” Manpreet is going to get a lift with her and her husband instead.
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
