Sydney Sweeney’s The Housemaid is officially getting a sequel after its box office success. Deadline reports that the project has been in development at studio Lionsgate for months already, and the plan is to start production at some point this year.
The publication states that Sweeney and Michele Morrone are both expected to reprise their roles as troubled Millie Calloway and groundskeeper Enzo Accardi, respectively. Amanda Seyfried hasn’t been confirmed, but has said she’d love to do a cameo (via Variety).
Behind the camera, Paul Feig is confirmed to direct once again, with Rebecca Sonnenshine once more on scripting duties, and Sweeney continuing to executive produce.
“It’s been thrilling to see audiences around the world fall in love with The Housemaid and the incredible work of our talented cast and crew,” Feig is quoted as saying.
“We’re lucky that Freida McFadden has already extended Millie’s journey on the page, and that we get to work with Rebecca Sonnenshine and Lionsgate to bring this next story to audiences.”
