Ste Hay made his return to Hollyoaks tonight, but got a couple of major shocks following some big developments. As he returned from visiting his daughter, Leah, in the US, he was informed about some big news.
Tonight’s episode of the Channel 4 soap saw Ste greeted by Rex, Froggy and Leela upon his return home, though the pleasantries were cut short as Rex shared that he had to tell him something.

As they get back in the house, Leela informs Ste that Dillon had left the village with baby James. Froggy, meanwhile, tells Rex that he needs to share his secrets – where he has been exploring his identity – ahead of his wedding to Ste.
This adds more to Ste’s plate, given that his trip to the States ended badly after he informed Leah about the various developments in his life. After telling her that he slept with Dillon, Ste said that he kicked her out and he stayed at an airport hotel instead.
After Ste quipped about having another bombshell dropped on him, Leela duly obliged, and informed him of the devastating news that Diane Hutchinson had only six months to live after being diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer.
Ste and Rex vowed to give the Hutchinsons the space to have some great memories in Diane’s remaining months, and his first step was to suggest that they bring their wedding date forward.
Rex returned home and spoke with Gemma, who discussed modern beauty standards. After Rex cut himself while preparing food, Gemma grabbed a makeshift bandage – unaware that it was a bit of clothing that Rex had been using.
With Ste asking for the wedding date to be brought forward, and Froggy’s words playing on his mind, will Rex tell his fiancé about the exploration of his identity ahead of their biggest day as a couple?

While Ste is busy planning, he was shocked by the news of Dillon’s departure from the village, which had been written in after actor Nathaniel Dass decided to end his three-year stint on the soap.
“I’m absolutely gutted that every day I won’t be able to come in and see everyone,” said Dass after his exit. “I’ve built so many amazing relationships here, so I’m really sad about that and I’m going to miss playing Dillon.”
