Karla Crome, the star of Harlan Coben’s Lazarus, has joined the cast of You Are Here, a new BBC rom-com drama. Written by David Nicholls and based on his 2024 novel of the same name, the eight-part miniseries will be directed by Lenny Abrahamson.
Leading the cast are the already announced Claire Foy (The Crown) and Matthew Macfadyen (Succession), who will play Marnie and Michael respectively.
Set along the Coast to Coast Walk, a walking trail from the Lake District to Robin Hood’s Bay in North Yorkshire, the series follows the two characters as they are thrown together by mutual friend Cleo (Crome) and “unexpectedly find themselves setting off on an epic adventure”.

Josiah Green-Mhlanga will play Cleo’s son Anthony, while Tom Stourton stars as Conrad, a friend of Cleo’s husband and a reluctant addition to the hike.
The show’s synopsis continues: “Against the odds [Marnie and Michael] end up on the brink of a relationship that neither was looking for, but which might be exactly the one they both need.
“You Are Here is about finding a connection when you least expect it and overcoming the obstacles of midlife. Treading the tricky path from loneliness to love, Marnie and Michael go coast-to-coast across the stunning (and sometimes soaking) English countryside, navigating an undeniable attraction that is as exhilarating as it is terrifying.”
The series will start filming soon in the Lake District and around Manchester. It will air exclusively on BBC iPlayer and BBC One in the UK & Ireland, and on STARZ in the US.

Nicholls previously said of the show: “Matthew and Claire are both just dream casting, wonderful in comedy and drama, so detailed and thoughtful and sympathetic.
“The intention with the novel was to write a close-up study of a relationship, but set against this magnificent landscape, and that’s our ambition here too; to make something both intimate and epic, funny and dramatic, a romantic comedy with real emotion,” the writer added.
“We can’t wait to bring Marnie and Michael’s journey to the screen.”
You Are Here will air on the BBC, with a release date yet to be confirmed.
