With The Madame Blanc Mysteries due to return to our screens for its fifth series tonight (Thursday 29 October), creator and lead star Sally Lindsay has given an update on the future of the show.

In an interview with Radio Times, the former Coronation Street actor has said that the series is “not going anywhere”, so long as the fans continue to tune in.

Lindsay also spoke of how much she loves writing The Madame Blanc Mysteries, which she pens with her co-star Sue Vincent. The actor also noted that she’s now firmly in the “Jonathan Creek and your Midsomer Murders and Death in Paradise world”, which she loves.

“I think the world is so strong, like those worlds,” she added to the publication. “So as long as the audience watch it and as long as our bosses want to pay for it, and people want to be in it, brilliant guest stars still want to be in it, for me it’s not going anywhere.”

The exciting list of actors joining for cameos in The Madame Blanc Mysteries season five include Bonnie Langford (Doctor Who), Louisa Lytton (EastEnders), Jason Manford (Waterloo Road), Su Pollard (Benidorm), and Lesley Joseph (Birds of a Feather).

“Yet again Ste. Victoire has attracted some absolute stellar stars who have all been absolutely fantastic,” Lindsay previously shared of the season five additions.

“We are so thrilled with this series and love that the world of Madame Blanc gets bigger and better every year.”

In previous seasons, other guest stars have included Richard Blackwood, Stephen Bailey (more recently seen in Russell T Davies’ Tip Toe), and Julie Graham (This City Is Ours).

The sun-soaked cosy-crime series centres on antiques dealer and amateur sleuth Jean White, who comes up against murder, romance, and mystery in the French town of Sainte Victoire.

It’s also been teased that the fifth season would bring fans “even more mind‑boggling mysteries, murders and eye‑popping antiquities than ever before” – so viewers should strap in for the brand-new episodes, starting tonight on Channel 5.

The Madame Blanc Mysteries season 5 premieres on Channel 5 at 9:05pm on 29 October.
