Comic-Con brought some bombshell announcements for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the one that everyone’s talking about is the casting of British actor David Jonsson as the new Black Panther. The rising star, best known for his roles in HBO’s Industry, The Long Walk, and Alien: Romulus, will be portraying the grown-up son of the former Black Panther, T’Challa (who was played by the late Chadwick Boseman).
The announcement took the internet by storm, and rightly so. If anyone can do justice to the character and to Boseman’s legacy, it’s Jonsson. But naturally, we also couldn’t keep our eyes off the watch he wore on stage for the big announcement with his new Marvel family.

David Jonsson sported a Cartier watch, namely the Panthère de Cartier watch. Get it? Quite fitting, really. The MCU newcomer opted for a small model with a stainless steel bracelet, with blue hands that make a subtle statement against the simple sleek, square design. All in all, it’s a classic.
Jonsson’s very familiar with Cartier. Only a couple of weeks ago, he was a judge on the brand’s Style et Luxe panel at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where he debuted one of the jeweller’s new Roadster models. However, specifically picking out the Panthère de Cartier, which shares a name with the beloved superhero into whose shoes he’s about to step? We know what you’re doing Jonsson, and we love it.
