To the Editor:

On Saturday evening we attended an entertaining evening at Lake Miona Rec Center, sponsored by The Villages North Jewish Chavurah. Attendance was excellent, probably 150 people, so Jewish presence in The Villages is a reality. As far as Chanukah merchandise in the area, not so much. Publix seems to be the best. Now I was brought up in Montreal that even today has a very large Jewish population, probably 85,000. Toronto more so at 180,000. That being said Chanukah is not a very commercial holiday, unlike Christmas. Most Jews already have a menorah and other Chanukah necessities. I understand from a local merchant in Middleton, that Chanukah greeting cards are a big seller, but that’s it.

By the way kudos to the Publix store in Lake Deaton Plaza for a good selection of Jewish food, both fresh and frozen.
