A free open-access webinar will introduce the Cancer Genome Interpreter (CGI), an advanced bioinformatics tool to interpret mutations in cancer genomes developed by IRB Barcelona and co-created with European hospitals to turn complex cancer genomics into actionable insights.

On Thursday, 9 April 2026 (14:00–15:30 CET), the CGI-Clinics consortium will host a free online workshop to present the Cancer Genome Interpreter (CGI), an AI-powered platform designed to support the interpretation of tumor genomes. CGI-Clinics is an European project coordinated by IRB Barcelona and originated in the lab of Dr. Nuria López-Bigas at IRB Barcelona, where the foundations of the tool were developed.

Developed through a co-creation process with more than 10 European hospitals, CGI is an advanced clinical decision support platform that leverages state-of-the-art machine learning to transform complex genomic data into meaningful information in precision oncology. The webinar will showcase the science behind the tool, its potential in clinical applications, and how new hospitals and research centres can join the CGI-Clinics community.

The webinar, titled “Streamlining Tumor Interpretation with the Cancer Genome Interpreter (CGI)”, will feature presentations by Dr. Nuria López-Bigas (IRB Barcelona), Dr. Santiago Demajo (IRB Barcelona), and Dr. Loïc Verlingue (Centre Leon Bérard), and will offer participants both a practical and scientific overview of the platform.

CGI was built hand in hand with clinicians to solve a real bottleneck in precision oncology: how to interpret tumor genomes in a reliable, scalable and clinically meaningful way. This webinar is an open invitation to hospitals and researchers to explore the tool and become part of the CGI-Clinics community.”

Dr. Nuria López-Bigas, ICREA Research Professor at IRB Barcelona and coordinator of the CGI-Clinics project
