CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Donut I Love U is changing the way customers think about gluten-free treats with fresh, made-to-order donuts topped with colorful, customizable creations.
Donut I Love U serves 100% gluten-free donuts, meaning there is no gluten anywhere on the truck. Food truck manager Oliver Vess said creating a completely gluten-free environment allows customers with gluten sensitivities or celiac disease to enjoy donuts without worrying about cross-contamination.

“We’re entirely gluten free, 100%. No gluten on the entire truck at all,” Vess said.
Unlike traditional donut shops, every donut is made only after a customer orders. The rice flour-based dough is freshly prepared, cooked in about 90 seconds and finished with toppings ranging from whipped cream and chocolate to caramel and more.
“Everything is made to order,” Vess said. “There’s nothing cold. Everything is made hot to order.”
The truck’s name reflects the company’s focus on customer service just as much as its desserts.
“We believe in serving customers and giving everyone the individual attention each guest deserves, with kind service and family values,” Vess said.
For those hoping to recreate the experience at home, Vess recommends leaving gluten-free donut making to the experts, noting that even small amounts of flour in a home kitchen can contaminate food.
“Everyone has flour and contamination in their home, so you have to have a completely gluten-free kitchen to make a really gluten-free donut,” he said.
