Osage Food Products has enhanced its SolvPro portfolio through a collaboration with Revyve (a Dutch food ingredients supplier producing yeast proteins) with the aim of addressing the current whey protein shortage. Osage’s plant protein blends serve the bakery and sports nutrition, along with other food and beverage manufacturers looking to incorporate an alternative source of protein into their upcoming products.
According to Osage, the new SolvPro line capitalizes on the robust qualities of Revyve yeast protein ingredients through three plant-based blends that feature yeast, pea protein isolates and fava bean protein isolates:
SolvPro 308: High protein and solubility for beverage applications.
SolvPro 309: A protein-centric blend that promotes functional nutrition with both
protein and fibers (beta-glucan) for immune support, and B vitamins for enhanced
energy. Lower solubility for bakery and grain-based applications.
SolvPro 310: A fiber-centric blend with an optimized balance of protein and fibers that reportedly has the potential to support longevity and healthy aging. This blend holds lower solubility for bakery and grain-based applications.
“Consumers still want complete protein sources, but whey protein shortages have put a strain on the marketplace,” says Dennis Reid, VP of marketing and specialty ingredients.
”Yeast proteins are a whole food, fungal and vegan-friendly protein source that offers another option to fill the market gap, and our SolvPro blends with yeast proteins are designed to deliver both complete protein and targeted functional benefits.”
Revyve’s two main yeast ingredients, Revytal and Thryve, are intended to offer adjacent benefits for applications across RTD beverages, protein- and fiber-based formulations and more. Components and reputed benefits of Revytal and Thryve include:
Complete protein and fiber
Protein Digestibility Corrected Amino Acid Score (PDCAAS) of 1.0
Beta-glucan and soluble fibers for immunity support
Bioactive polyamines, specifically spermidine and spermine
vitamins and minerals
Allergen-free
