Claudia Schiffer may be one of the world’s most iconic supermodels, but she’s proved she’s just like us when it comes to exercise (in some ways, at least!). We can all relate to motivation struggles when we’re trying to keep active, and there’ll be some forms of exercise we just can’t bear. For Claudia? It’s the gym.
In a previous interview with Vogue, her trainer David Higgins revealed said ‘she absolutely hates’ the gym, when discussing the regimes the model does with him. While Claudia does do alternative exercises (“really high-intensity Pilates,” is one example David adds), she also has a simple work out secret to keep her going, for when she does decide to step onto the dreaded machines.

Speaking to Net-A-Porter about her morning and evening routine, Claudia revealed that her trick is “going on the treadmill while watching Gilmore Girls.” Finally, a celebrity fitness regime we can get behind. Her other tips include organising social plans around more active pursuits. “I’ve started working out with my girlfriends, doing everything from cardio to yoga or tennis. Every day, we do something new, which makes it fun,” she said in the interview. She then added that she loves long walks “in the countryside with my dogs.” Another work out tip we’re happy to try.

In a 2024 interview with Wardrobe Icons, Claudia also explained that exercise isn’t just something she does to keep her body strong, but is also something which benefits her mind. ‘Some days are quite stressful because there’s a lot going on and not everything always goes to plan,’ she said. ‘Working out relieves my stress, so I try to work out every day.’

While most of us might need our caffeine fix to fire into action, Claudia revealed to Net-A-Porter that, in her 50s, she starts each day with ‘a cup of decaf coffee with home-made almond milk and dates.’ Throughout the day though, her, ‘main diet is non-processed, natural and organic’ and she drinks ‘lots of water,’ according Wardrobe Icons. However, Claudia doesn’t like to be too strict with her meals; ‘I’ll make exceptions if it’s a special occasion and I’m going to a restaurant or having weekend brunch with friends.’
