Alameda restaurant closure

Greens & Grains

07.17.26: The sandwich, soup, and rotisserie chicken spot inside Alameda Marketplace closed at the end of July. Grains & Greens is known for their customizable mixed salads as well as prepped salads, beans, potato salad, and rotisserie chicken. Albany restaurant closure

Match Point Brewing

07.24.26: Match Point Brewing in Albany closed permanently after service on July 26. The taproom opened in 2024 in a space adjacent to 310 Eatery. However, the taproom was unable to reach a new agreement on the sublease, co-owner Simon Chen wrote in an email to Nosh. “We will be closing this weekend with a Last Call Taproom Party. We are glad the World Cup happened at times where everyone could enjoy the game,” Chen said, adding that Match Point Brews will still be sold at many local restaurants and shops including Berkeley Bowl and El Cerrito Natural Grocery.” Match Point Brewing, 745 San Pablo Ave, Albany, CA

Berkeley restaurant closures

Dessert N Spice

07.31.26: The downtown Berkeley dessert shop closed its doors. Dessert N Spice served cookies, baklavas, cakes, Dubai chocolate strawberries, and more. According to a sign on its window, they will be moving into Dera Cafe in Berkeley. Berkeley Bagels will be opening a second location in this space in a few weeks. Gallego’s Mexican Food

07.17.26: A Nosh tipster let us know Gallego’s Mexican restaurant in Berkeley appeared shuttered, and a visit confirmed that all of the windows are covered and a “For Sale” sign has been posted on the building. Gallego’s first moved into its location on San Pablo Avenue in 2011. Gallego’s Mexican Food was located at 2200 San Pablo Ave. in Berkeley.

El Sobrante restaurant closure

Hundal Sahib Fish & Chips

07.17.26: The fish and ships spot in El Sobrante is closed. The windows are papered over and quiet, with no activity inside. The seafood and fish fry restaurant seems to have opened in 2012, serving a variety of fried fish, including cod, pollock, tilapia, and catfish. It also served hush puppies, fried clam strips, and Loard’s ice cream. Facebook posts show that this shop has previously closed and reopened several times. Nosh will keep an eye out for any signs of a resurrection. Hundal Sahib Fish & Chips was located at 3550 San Pablo Dam Rd. in El Sobrante

Ace Seafood

07.17.26: A reader sent a tip that they stopped by Ace Seafood during regular hours and it was closed. The Instagram account is also down, and the restaurant is no longer listed on the Resy platform for reservations. A visit at opening time on Friday, July 17 found the restaurant dark and the shades drawn, and the new owners that took over Small Change in early 2026 and rebranded it to Ace Seafood, have not returned messages inquiring about the restaurant’s status. Ace Seafood was located at 5000 Telegraph Ave. in Oakland.

Kathiew House

07.24.26: Kathiew House shared on Instagram that the weekly weekend pop-up will be closed until further notice. The owner, Phoeun Pen, told KTVU that, while she was at work, someone broke into her home, stole property, and assaulted her son. Kathiew House, which started as a home business, is known for Cambodian beef noodle soup. Kathiew House at A&R market on 3615 Foothill Blvd., Oakland

06.26.26: The Oakland brewery and taproom announced it would close permanently on July 19, with its final service coinciding with the World Cup final. Line 51 launched in 2013 and has been in its location near Jack London Square since 2020. “Without all of you this ride could’ve never taken place, and we appreciate that,” reads a post on Line 51’s Instagram account. “We invite you to come raise a pint with us here at the Terminal any Thursday-Sunday until the World Cup Final. Lounge Chinatown

07.31.26: Lounge Chinatown seems to have closed some time in 2025. The Taiwanese and Chinese street food restaurant opened in Oakland Chinatown in January 2023, serving some of the best stinky tofu, minced pork over rice (lu rou fan), and beef noodle soup in this area, where Taiwanese food is hard to find. Nosh reported earlier this week that a new Taishanese restaurant, New King Kitchen, is opening soon in Lounge Chinatown’s former location. Lounge Chinatown, 366 8th St., Oakland

Oak-Dar

07.24.26: Thanks to The Oaklandside reader Keith, we learned that Oak-Dar, a cafe in downtown Oakland next to DeLauer’s, is closed. A sign on the window states both that the location is closed, and that it is moving. They also note that their coffees and teas are still available every Saturday at the Grand Lake Farmers Market. Pa’s Papa

07.31.26: This Japanese restaurant in Oakland’s Laurel district opened a little over a year ago in June 2025, and has closed. A new restaurant named Itsumo is opening in its place. Pa’s Papa, 4006 MacArthur Blvd., Oakland

Pour Manners Izakaya

07.24.26: On Friday, July 24, Pour Manners Izakaya, a popular Oakland-based pop-up, announced on Instagram that it would be shutting down indefinitely. “With a heavy heart, I’m sad to announce we will be pausing all Pour Manners operations for the foreseeable future to focus on some personal matters and recalibrate the business,” reads in the part the message from Boi Soth, chef and founder. Pour Manners was frequently found at Room 389 and is known for its charcoal grilled skewers and Japanese tapas.

Pucquio

07.31.26: The Rockridge Peruvian restaurant announced on Instagram that its last day would be Friday, July 31. The restaurant offered modern, seasonal dishes that stood out among the sea of Rockridge restaurants, garnering praise from San Francisco Chronicle food critic Cesar Hernandez: “this electrifying Peruvian restaurant might be the most underrated spot in Oakland’s Rockridge.” Pucquio, 5337 College Ave., Oakland
