EastEnders spoilers follow for Monday’s episode (17 August), which is available to watch now on streaming service BBC iPlayer and hasn’t yet aired on TV.
EastEnders has revealed what brings Nicola Mitchell’s family to Albert Square, as three of her relatives descend on Walford in chaotic fashion. Last month, it was announced that five members of the Hawkins family would be joining the show – Nicola’s sisters Gemma and Jodie and their mum Rose, as well as Gemma’s husband Ned and their son Ryder.
However, it was a total surprise to viewers when a clip previewing today’s episode was released online yesterday, confirming that Nicola’s siblings arrive sooner than expected.

It was a tough day for Nicola in today’s episode as it was the anniversary of her dad’s death, with whom she had a turbulent relationship with. But her day got even more complicated when her sisters Gemma and Jodie sped into the Square, crashing the car into the entrance to Peacock Palace!
Gemma told Nicola that she was in big trouble and needed her help with a problem – but they were interrupted by furious Elaine, and George then meeting his other half’s sisters for the first time.
Later, Nicola got the shock of her life when she opened the boot of Gemma’s car to find a man who had been tied up and gagged by her siblings!
It was explained that the man is Leo, the boyfriend of Gemma’s daughter Megan. Leo had been treating Megan badly, so Gemma and Jodie attempted to warn him off. But things went wrong and the pair ran him over, so they panicked and put him in the boot.
Nicola was furious that she had been dragged into this chaotic situation. However, when she realised that Leo has been violent towards Megan, her mood changed and she vowed to help her sisters.

Meanwhile, back at home George was surprised by an unexpected visitor – Nicola’s mum, Rose. While she waited for the three sisters to return, Rose was delighted to meet her granddaughter for the first time.
It soon became clear that Rose was judgmental of Nicola and George’s situation, and that she remembers the past and her late husband very differently to Nicola.
George insisted to Rose that Nicola had changed over the last couple of years. But meanwhile, Nicola had dragged Leo out of the car and into Harry’s Barn and made it clear that she wasn’t to be messed with.
Rose headed to Harry’s Barn to meet up with her children, with worried George in hot pursuit. However, they arrived to find Nicola violently threatening tied up Leo! How will they react to this shocking scene?
