Coronation Street spoilers follow from Friday’s episode (23 October), which is available to watch now on ITVX and YouTube but hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet.
Coronation Street has revealed Gary Windass’s first big problem in prison – and it could lead to him staying behind bars for longer than expected.
Gary is trying to keep his head down after being sentenced to eight months in jail, but his dodgy cellmate Jonesy looks set to make it difficult for him to stay out of trouble!

In tonight’s episode, Tyrone Dobbs’s dad Ross Wilkes – who works as a prison guard – promises Maria Connor that her husband is coping fine and he’ll carry on looking out for him.
When Ross next sees Gary, he reiterates that he’s there to support him with whatever he needs. Rather than being grateful, though, Gary can’t help feeling uneasy about the special attention.
Later, Gary finds Jonesy dealing drugs to one of the other inmates. He immediately fears that if Jonesy is caught stashing illegal substances in their cell, they’ll both be in hot water and ruled out for early release.
While we all know Gary can stand up for himself, Jonesy makes it clear that he’s not one to be messed with…

Mikey North, who plays Gary, previously told us: “It’s prison, so it’s never going to be an easy ride! Jonesy is a great character, and Carl Rice plays him brilliantly.
“There’s going to be lots coming up with Gary having to protect himself inside, so there’s so much going on there. Jonesy is definitely another little Corrie villain who’s popped up.”
Asked about Ross’s strange behaviour, he replied: “Gary finds it really strange and doesn’t quite know what’s going on. Ross’s behaviour and some of the things he says are quite odd. Gary doesn’t want to push back against him too much too quickly because he thinks Ross might look after him in there, but Gary is definitely sceptical and taken aback.”
Corrie will continue to explore Gary’s prison ordeal in the coming weeks. On the outside, meanwhile, Izzy Armstrong’s dad Owen will be returning to the cobbles to help take care of things in Gary’s absence.
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
