For many, one of the best things about the festive season is the food, with plenty of Brits enjoying richer dishes and larger portions than usual. However, this seasonal indulgence can often lead to uncomfortable bloating – and with Christmas parties in full swing, it can quickly take the shine off what should be the most wonderful time of the year.
Speaking on Lorraine, TV favourite Dr Hilary Jones said it’s a common problem at this time of year, noting that many people visit their GP worried that their “bowel habit has changed.” The doctor added that this is hardly surprising given how differently we tend to eat over the Christmas period.
He explained that richer foods can easily contribute to bloating and constipation, particularly as the weeks go on. While stressing that prevention is always preferable, Dr Hilary also highlighted a supplement option for those already experiencing the effects of festive overindulgence.
Dr Jones went on to mention a product called Debloat & Detox by Dr Vegan, which costs £18.99 for a one-off purchase of one pouch. Taken over a month, this works out at around 65p a day when bought directly from the Dr Vegan website.
In the show that aired on December 15, the TV doctor said: “There’s something called Dr Vegan’s Debloat & Detox, which contains ingredients like artichoke leaf extract and milk thistle, traditionally thought to be beneficial for the gall bladder, as well as botanicals and amino acids.”

For bloating after eating, a healthy liver, and removing toxins from your body, Debloat & Detox is a high strength blend of botanicals and amino-acids including Milk Thistle (2500mg), Silymarin, Fennel, Dandelion, Burdock and L-Glutamine.
Debloat & Detox is formulated to support digestion after meals, promote liver health, and aid the body in processing toxins, according to the brand. Its blend of botanicals and amino acids includes Milk Thistle (2,500mg), Silymarin, Fennel, Dandelion, Burdock, and L-Glutamine.
The supplement also features ingredients like artichoke, known for their antioxidant properties and traditionally used to support digestion, intestinal function, and the liver’s natural detoxification processes. The capsules are easy to take, with users advised to consume two per day – either together or separately – with or after main meals, or before drinking alcohol. The brand advises following the recommended dosage for optimal results

However, Dr Vegan isn’t the only option for tackling bloating — LookFantastic also offers The Nue Co. Debloat and Prebiotic Bundle, priced at £98, which includes two dietary supplements containing digestive enzymes, prebiotics, and probiotics, according to the website.
Boots also stocks the Artah Digest + Debloat Tincture 100ml for £32 on its website. Designed to supplement the diet, the tincture is recommended for use before or after meals.
Meanwhile, Dr Vegan’s Debloat & Detox has received glowing feedback from hundreds of customers. One reviewer, Carolyn, said: “Definitely help with digestion and lessen feelings of bloating after my evening meal… Take them religiously!”

Another customer named Nicki remarked: “I have suffered with IBS symptoms for a year now and in one month my bloating and constipation has almost gone – I’ve had one or two instances this month compared to every single day. It is quite pricey but it compares well to other similar products and the ingredients are natural and high quality. I can’t imagine I’ll ever stop taking them.”
However, it’s important to note that results may vary, as one user pointed out: “I used this for 30 days and found no difference. On a positive, despite the capsules being large, they are easy to swallow.”
Overall most people were pleased, however, as Melanie said: “Less bloating and stomach pain after eating, and no uncomfortable, hard full tummy that made it impossible to do sit ups. I will be repeating the order when it comes to renewal and have been really impressed.”
