Two of our faves are joining forces: Catbird, the beloved Brooklyn-based jeweler known for its minimalist, stackable designs, has been named the official jewelry partner of the Women’s National Basketball Association. And today, in celebration of the WNBA’s 30th anniversary season, the brand is launching the “Official Catbird x WNBA Collection,” a limited-edition fine jewelry capsule designed to “embody the strength, connection, and excellence seen in women’s sports and throughout three decades of the pioneering league.”

The collection, which stars New York Liberty founding players and WNBA legends Teresa Weatherspoon and Sue Wicks, includes a “jumpwoman” charm cast from the league’s official silhouette logo, a basketball charm, and city letter charms for eight host cities (LAS and SEA, for example). The pieces are crafted from 10K solid gold and sterling silver and start at $74.

“When the league began, every milestone felt significant. We were laying the foundation for a future we believed in, so seeing the WNBA enter its 30th season—and seeing a fine jewelry brand like Catbird recognize women’s sports as worthy of meaningful, long-term investment—feels incredibly affirming,” Wicks says. “It’s proof of how far belief and investment can carry something when people commit to it for the long haul.”

Catbird’s relationship with the WNBA began in the 2025 season when the brand announced Nyara Sabally (then of the New York Liberty, now of the Toronto Tempo) as its first athlete ambassador. “Last year, we made a little basketball charm—the net was delicate and gold and the basketball was a pearl—which came from something we’ve always believed in: jewelry moves with you,” says Leigh Batnick Plessner, Catbird’s chief creative officer. “We cast Nyara Sabally, then of our hometown team, in a campaign around that idea, and photographed her in the Brooklyn Navy Yard where our studio and headquarters are. She’s always worn her Catbird charms and chains and twinkly little earrings just the way we love—personal, lived-in, a bit tangled, like life!”

The campaign with Sabally led to Catbird meeting with the league, which gave the brand the opportunity to interpret the idea of “jewelry that moves with you” in a broader way. “Supporting women’s sports is a huge honor for us,” Plessner adds.

Ahead of the campaign launch, Weatherspoon reflected on how far the league has come in its three decades and why having brands like Catbird backing it now is meaningful.

“When we were playing in the league’s early years, we believed in what the WNBA could become, but seeing it reach its 30th season with this level of visibility and support is incredibly powerful,” she says. “A partnership like this recognizes the women who helped build the league, the players carrying it forward and the fans who have believed in it from the beginning. … It feels like a beautiful tribute to how far the WNBA has come and to everyone who has been part of that journey.”

Weatherspoon says her favorite piece in the collection is the jumpwoman charm, while Wicks selected the basketball charm. “It is my favorite because it begins with the symbol that connects every generation of players and fans, then gives each person a way to make it entirely their own—to wear with pride, and to attach to something bigger than themselves,” Wicks explains. “That’s what this league has always been about: shared values, identity, and the chance to build something together that we can celebrate, own, and grow with. This is who we are. We are a team, and we are a movement—not just a moment.”
