When she’s not adding to her ever-growing list of film and TV roles, Jodie Turner-Smith makes time for movement – and there’s one workout she keeps coming back to.

‘I’m a Pilates princess. I am,’ she said in an interview with Who What Wear. ‘Especially after having a baby.’

The Tron: Ares actor also revealed that she loves being outdoors, listing ‘water and Pilates and hiking’ as her favourite ways to stay active.

She acknowledges, though, that there isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach to fitness.

‘A workout routine is about finding what works for your body, as everybody is different,’ she added.

Jodie Turner-Smith rebuilt her strength with reformer Pilates

Jodie has trained with celebrity PT and Pilates instructor David Higgins.

Higgins previously shared an Instagram clip of a reformer Pilates session with Jodie, showing her performing short-box side sit-ups to target her obliques while engaging her deep core muscles and hip stabilisers.

She also performed kneeling kickbacks, working her glutes and hamstrings while her core and shoulders maintained stability.

‘What you see above is the culmination of months and months of hard work and dedication by Jodie,’ he wrote.

‘When we started working together, Jodie was postnatal and her body was holding onto multiple old injuries. I love rebuilding people’s bodies and helping them regain their power… It’s a joy every day to see her push herself.’

The benefits of reformer Pilates

Reformer Pilates has been shown to improve strength and body composition.

One 2025 study published in Nature found that completing three reformer Pilates sessions a week for eight weeks increased muscle mass, reduced body fat percentage, improved grip strength and enhanced trunk and back muscle endurance.

Why Jodie Turner-Smith prioritises exercise after becoming a mum

As a mum, Jodie has said making time for her own wellbeing has become more important, despite being busier than ever.

‘[Motherhood] has made me want to take care of myself more,’ she told People.

‘I literally have a lot less time so I’ve got to get more creative… It’s a good exercise remembering to take care of yourself because… it’s good for your kids to see you look after yourself.’
